What was in the tins

Twelve kinds of fish and shellfish. Two hundred and four different tins.

Sardines, sure. Also saury, cockles, sprat pâté, cod liver and octopus. The whole point of a monthly box is that you meet things you would never have put in your basket.

Where the club lives

All 50 states, plus DC, Puerto Rico and two military addresses.

2,718 cities. 4,438 ZIP codes. And eight countries.

Most enthusiastic per member: Alaska 352 boxes to just 56 members — one of the highest boxes-per-member rates in the country. People who live where the fish comes from order the most of it.
The long haul

Some people move in.

Three things we are quietly proud of.

Who it’s for

One in three boxes we ship is a gift.

11,738 of them, carrying 3,074 written messages. We read them. They are, without exception, better than anything we could write ourselves.

The occasion
Who it went to
Members have wished each other “Merry Fishmas” 59 times, entirely unprompted. Nobody put them up to it. We just kept finding it in the messages.
The wordplay

And Fishmas was not the only one.

Nobody asked for jokes. We counted them anyway, across all 3,074 gift messages.

In their own words

Great. Fun. Delicious.

493 members have written us a review. These are the words they reach for most, and the parts of the box they talk about.

What they talk about

A box turns up. You learn something. You eat well.

Every month: three tins you would not have found on your own, a snack or condiment chosen to go with them, something to eat them with, and cards telling you who caught them, which cannery packed them, and what to make for dinner. Every number on this page started with one person deciding to try it.
